The new age of Cleansing Conditioners

Cleansing conditioners you say? What exactly is a Cleansing Conditioner? Well, literally the name says it all. It is a conditioner that is used to cleanse your hair and condition at the same time. It seems in the last year or so everyone has hopped onto the cleansing conditioner train and there doesn't seem to be any end in sight.

The firs time I ever heard of a Cleansing Conditioner was when WEN came out. WEN claimed that its cleansing conditioner would take the place of your shampoo and gently clean and nourish your curls, leaving your hair healthy and manageable without the lather caused by harsh ingredients. Sounds delightful, right?

Well at the time, I was on a Curl Junkie fix and decided to try their cleansing conditioner called Daily Fix Cleansing Conditioner. I wasn't wowed so I never repurchased. My hair wasn't stripped and it wasn't dry but for some reason I expected more, so I went on a little journey to find the best cleansing conditioner for my hair. Little did I know, CJ would be the best cleansing conditioner I used that was geared towards cleansing. There are many naturals who use regular rinse out conditioners for cleansing their hair and scalp.

I have used
As I am Coconut Cowash Cleansing Conditioner * not pictured $8.00 16oz
Ouidad Curl Cowash $30.00 16oz
Loreal EverCurl Hydracharge Cleansing Conditioner $6.99 8.3 floz
Pantene Cowash Cleansing Conditioner  $5.00 at Local Family Dollar for 22.8 fl oz
Natural By Design Pumpkin Cleansing Conditioner $9.50 8oz
Jane Carter Creamy Conditioning Cleanser $15 8oz
Renpure Sweet Pomegranate Cleansing Conditioner $9.99 16oz
Naturelle Grow Marshmallow Root, Slipperly Elm Bark, and Blue Malva Cleansing Conditioner  $17.95 16 fl oz* new
Natural by Design Cosmetics Curl Magic Cleansing Conditioner *new $10.50 8oz

Out of the ones listed above excluding the new ones, the best one was the As I am Coconut. My hair was soft, moist and did not feel as if the hair was stripped. The price is right and its easily accessible on the ground.  It is sold at just about every Walgreens,  CVS and Riteaid in my local area.  Followed closely by the Renpure Sweet Pomegranate  and then the Natural By Design Cosmetics Cleansing Conditioners.

I was expecting the Jane Carter Conditioning Cleanser to be creamy because of the name but it was not. It was runny and that made me liable to use more to compensate. It wasnt good but it was great either.

The Ouidad was a disaster.  I was frankly surprised because of the price and name brand, I thought my hair was going to be in lush heaven. As with most cleansing conditioner, this did not lather. My hair felt squeaky dry if there is such a thing. I had to follow it up with another conditioner to try and get my hair back to its normal softness after a cowash.

The worst of them all though to me was the Pantene.  I was expecting more out of this brand and even though you get more for you money, the ingredients and the feel of my hair wasnt something I like,

So after my little foray into the cleansing conditioners, I realized, I do love the Daily Fix by Curl Junkie best however the price doesnt justify the means for me when I can get a bottle of Tresemme Naturals and conditioner wash my hair for $6.99.
