Blue Algae Protein Mask DIY

After trying Camille Roses Algae mask I was tempted to find out what was in it so I could make it myself. I usually take the main ingredients in a deep conditioner and alter them to my likes if I find myself not wanting to pay for an item.

Dry Hair

I had heard of Algae in deep conditioners before from looking at Aubrey Organics .  I wanted to try It but never purchased it due to the price and size of the container. Its called AO  Blue Green Algae Hair Rescue Conditioning Mask.

IT claims :

I tried the Camille Rose mask and was very pleased with one use, unfortunely when I went to use it again the product had grown mold. It was in a closed closet but I guess the warmth we have been receiving over the last 2 months was stronger than the preservative. I decided to make my own mask using some of the key ingredients featured in each mask. I only used enough for one time as I didnt want it going bad on me.

My mix contained
2oz Blue Algae
2oz Amla powder
3oz Shea Butter
1oz Hemp Seed oil
1oz Monoi Tahiti Coconut oil
2 oz Aloe Vera Gel
3 oz Conditioner

Mixed
After all of the ingredients were mixed, I prepoo'd my hair with AO Rosa Mosqueta conditioner. Its a really nice conditioner that puts moisture back into the hair. I then shampoo'd my hair with the AO Rosa Mosqueta Shampoo because I wanted to start with a clean slate. After letting the shampoo sit on my scalp for a minute, I rinsed and then applied my Blue Algae mask that I mixed it. I was very creamy and easy to add to the hair.

NOTE: This stuff makes a mess just like henna does, so be prepared. Little blue green spots were all over my bathroom. I immediately wiped them up with a little cleaner. I wasnt sure if it would stain and I wanted to be sure.

As I was applying it I noticed that it soaked into my hair strands and the vivid blue green tinge started to disappear.

Once rinsed out after 20 minutes my hair felt strong. It wasn't a hard feeling but a pliable strong feeling to my strands. I immediately put a moisturizing deep conditioner on for a few seconds because I am protein sensitive and  algae is a type of protein

If your hair doesn't like Shea Butter and any of the oils you can also sub them out  for your favorites.
Happy mixing!
