What do you do for Winter Series? Part 3

I'm always on Fotki ,  but that's because  I'm just drawn to hair and natural hair at that . I came across this young lady's page one day and just fell in love.  She has some of the thickest hair and its soooooo lush.  Its the kind of hair that you know you want to play with and see how plush it is ,so I asked her to contribute to the Winter Series.  I hope you all enjoy. Let me know , what do you plan to do this winter?

Well this being my second Winter natural I have definitely learned how to better care for my natural hair this Winter...

Last year I wore twists and twist outs the entire time. Most important, I learned to cover my hair with a satin bonnet or protective hat whenever I was outside, even just going to the car. The weather where I live can get pretty harsh so moisture is key.

I will not change any deep conditioning treatments or products I use but I will limit the amount of co-washing I'm going to do. *Protective Styling* will be my style this Winter. I will be wearing twists for 3 to 4 weeks at a time then 1 week twist out if the weather is not so bad.

One lesson I have learned from last year is that I wore my hair out entirely too much! It was so dry at times...I know better this year, Shea Butter is my friend! Keeping the ends of your hair protected and tucked in away from harsh clothing and the weather is also very important.

I hope this helps....

Her hair is gorgeous!! It's so healthy and shiny! This winter I think I will be in braids/ twists and be wearing lots of headwraps and beanies...
